Five nozzle traditional kuthu vilakku has been in use from the days of Raja Raja Cholas or perhaps even earlier. When the British East India company began to rule South India, the lamps featured in some of the coins that were minted during those period. Lighting of traditional brass lamps is believed to radiate heat and light energy. The regular movement of the flame in traditional lamps is highly effective in passing out the positive energy to the surrounding nearby it’s been lit.
